Diagnostic Imaging

Specialist-led imaging

MASH's Diagnostic Imaging service is led by Dr Natalie Webster (BVSc CertVDI DipECVDI MANZCVS) — an EBVS European Veterinary Specialist in Diagnostic Imaging and a Registered Australian Specialist in Veterinary Radiology.

Natalie works closely with our surgical, internal medicine, and emergency teams, providing the advanced imaging that underpins accurate diagnosis and treatment planning across the hospital. Having specialist imaging on-site means we can provide imaging interpretation as quickly as possible — without the delays of an external imaging service.

Computed Tomography

Our CT scanner provides detailed cross-sectional and three-dimensional images of your pet's body, offering exceptional resolution for complex cases. CT is invaluable for:
Toxin Ingestion

Tumour staging and surgical planning

Sudden Paralysis

Neurological cases (disc disease, spinal tumours)

Trauma

Complex fractures and orthopaedic planning

Breathing

Thoracic and abdominal assessment

Seizures

Nasal and sinus disease

Vomitinh

Vascular anomalies

Our CT protocol minimises anaesthesia time. CT can often be combined with surgical intervention under the same anaesthetic.

Our Diagnostics Imaging Services

Ultrasound

Ultrasound

Ultrasound provides real-time imaging of soft tissues and internal organs without radiation. Our specialists use ultrasound to evaluate abdominal organs, identify abnormalities, guide fine-needle aspirates and biopsies, and assess the heart. Ultrasound is also used to monitor ICU patients and guide fluid sampling.

Emergency

Digital Radiology

Our digital radiography system captures high-resolution images without delay. Digital radiography images are available immediately, allowing rapid diagnosis and treatment. Radiography is available 24/7 for emergency patients.
Fluoroscopy

Fluoroscopy

Fluoroscopy provides real-time X-ray imaging of moving structures — allowing us to evaluate the gastrointestinal tract in motion, and to guide minimally invasive fracture repair and other interventional procedures.
Computed Tomography CT

Reporting & Collaboration

Imaging requiring formal review is reported by Dr Natalie Webster. Reports are provided promptly to referring vets and the treating clinical team. For urgent or emergency cases, results are communicated directly as soon as imaging is complete.

Frequently Asked Questions About Diagnostic Imaging

While simple X-rays can sometimes be done while awake, CT scans and detailed ultrasounds usually require light sedation or general anesthesia. This ensures your pet remains perfectly still, entirely pain-free, and stress-free while we capture high-resolution images.
