MASH's Internal Medicine service is led by Dr Alison Stickney (BVSc(hons) MVS MANZCVS PhD DACVIM) — a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine and a Registered Specialist in Internal Medicine.
We accept referrals from GP veterinary practices across Melbourne for patients with complex, chronic or diagnostically challenging medical conditions.
Our internal medicine team works up cases using a full suite of diagnostic capabilities, including rigid and flexible endoscopy, a comprehensive range of in-house laboratory services, and close collaboration with our specialist diagnostic imaging department — allowing us to reach a diagnosis efficiently and guide the best treatment plan.

Endocrine disease (diabetes mellitus, hyperadrenocorticism, hypoadrenocorticism, hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism)
Gastrointestinal disease (inflammatory bowel disease, protein-losing enteropathy, chronic vomiting, hepatic disease, pancreatitis)
Respiratory conditions (chronic coughing, pleural effusion, airway disease)
Urinary and renal disease (chronic kidney disease, urinary protein loss)
Haematological and immune-mediated disease (IMHA, thrombocytopaenia, polyarthritis)
Infectious and parasitic disease investigation

Flexible and rigid endoscopy (gastrointestinal, airway, rhinoscopy, cystoscopy)
In-house and external reference laboratory: haematology, biochemistry, urinalysis, endocrine testing, cytology, culture and sensitivity, histopathology
Advanced imaging: CT, ultrasound, digital radiography — in conjunction with our imaging specialist Dr Natalie Webster (BVSc CertVDI DipECVDI MANZCVS)
We value our relationships with referring practices. We communicate throughout every case and provide a detailed clinical report on discharge. Our specialists are happy to discuss cases by phone before a formal referral — please call if you'd like to talk through a case first.
